“I came to Saint Leo University because I felt that I needed a fresh start going into a new chapter of my life,” said Philip Vallido, a Business Administration major from New Jersey. Philip had attended private schools for his educational career and decided another private institution would give him the best opportunity to succeed and better himself. Saint Leo ultimately became Philip’s top choice because it offered a fantastic business program with small class sizes.
When freshman year began, Philip knew that he wanted to pursue business but was not sure what specialty. “I enrolled as undecided to allow myself time to find out about the various majors offered by the School of Business. After my advisor spent time with me explaining each and every major, I ultimately found Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing to be my calling.”
Philip believes that he has grown tremendously from his first year at Saint Leo. “I feel that I can manage being by myself compared to my friends who are still dependent on their parents.” He likes that Saint Leo offers courses like Concepts of Wellness and Introduction to the University to help students become accustomed to college life as well as become adjusted to being away from family.
Philip recommends that students should keep an open mind when deciding on a university. “Be open about your surroundings...Allow yourself to go outside of the box. The people you meet will change your life in fantastic ways. Take a chance at Saint Leo because you will love the person you become here.”
