Saint Leo University Honored by Consumers Digest
Consumer's Digest magazine ranked Saint Leo University in the nation's top five best values in Private Colleges and Universities. In a May 1 news release, the magazine's publisher reported that the schools were evaluated according to a formula that combined the academic achievements of first-time freshmen (standardized test scores, high-school rank, grade-point average) with the University's educational quality, based on its graduation rate, the student-to-faculty ration, and the percentage of faculty with doctoral degrees. NOAA Agent Receives Two Bronze Medal Awards
Special Agent Everett Baxter, a graduate of Saint Leo University, has been awarded two prestigious bronze medals from the Department of Commerce. Retired Navy Vice Admiral Conrad C. Lautenbacher, Ph.D., under secretary of commerce for oceans and atmosphere and NOAA administrator, presented Baxter with the awards at a ceremony held at the Daughters of the American Revolution Hall in Washington, D.C., on May 11, 2007. Producer and director Paul Hughes ('85) has been inducted into the Polk County Public Schools Hall of Fame. Inductees are selected for contributions in the arts, business, clergy, education, entertainment, government, law, military, medicine, sports or other fields.
